Rajabalibhai worked in the rations provision nest to the family wholesale trading outfit in Mpwapwa, which supplied the European population and then later, because of competition, also went into sunflower and caster seed business.

After 1936, the town grew dramatically and business stared booming after some schools and colleges were built. Rajabalibhai started a flour mill, whilst his younger brother went into transport.

The family’s first car was a Bedford truck, and then also a Peugeot 404 family saloon.
