"The first important attempt to organize Asian dramatists, poets, and other artists and present their work to the public occurred in Nairobi in 1948 with the inauguration of the Oriental Art Circle (OAC). The OAC was at first made up of a small active group including M V Patel and Subhas Inamdar, Advocates, Shanti Pandit, a journalist- politician, Dr. Abdulali Esmail Somji, a dentist, and Mr, and Mrs. B. Billimoria, a Parsi couple who were fond of western music."
