Born in Kera

At the beginning of the century Bukoba was but a village. Dharamsi Khatau whose head office was in Mombasa opened a branch there in 1903. Other Ithna-asheris opened branch offices in turn Nasir Mawji (1903), Sheriff Jiwa (19o7), Walji Bhanji(1907) Abdullah Khimji (1908), Pir Bhai Ghulam Husain (1008), and Amersi Sunderji. [1]

Abdulla Khimji was one of the organisers of a hartal (general strike) suspending all business for 54 days, from April 1 to May 25, 1923 to protest a tax from th new British administration.
