Bhagat

A term of respect amongst Khojas, usually denoting a lay person, who has a reputation for being religious or pious.
It is said that some of the followers of Pir Sadarddin went to Iran to meet with the Imam and were henceforth known as "Bawas'
Those who took their spiritual training from the Bawas were known as Bhagat.
