The four Walji brothers Hassan, Hirji, Remtullah and Mohamedali came form Dabasang nera Jamnagar in British Indiaarounf 1870 to the island of Lamu. Thee were small traders and had a small dhows. They braved wild animals and crocodiles up the Tana river to deliver goods to customers,Sadly, nothing is recorded except an entry in Gujarati in the Africa Fedration Directory about Hassan and Hirji Walji.

Hassan Walji had dhows as well. I remember “Madina”, “Munawer” and “Rangoon”.
