According to the community oral records, Jivrajbhai Kacra was Kamadia (Deputy) of the Dar es Salaam Khoja Ismaili Jamat between 1917-1918.

The same happened in the case of Pirbhai and Nazarali Sunderji, who took the owners of Kilosa Myombo Estates to court in 1931.31 In both cases, the court not only ordered the defaulters to surrender the properties specified in the contract. It also ordered that they pay various advances relating to the costs borne by the plaintiffs in renting out or selling the properties.[1]

In spite of the world depression and the disruption of the trading pattern created as a result of World War II, some Ismaili traders were, then, able to survive and take advantage of the changes. A few "new" families were also able to attain economic power as witnessed in the successes of Habib Punja, Jivraj Chachra, Bhatia Bros., Kassum Sunderji Samji, and Hussein Nasser Shariff, to mention just a few.[2]
