The German Colonial Handbook 1903 mentions "Kerim Lada" as an Indian trader in Dar es Salaam in 1903.

The 1908 edition of the German Colonial Handbook confirms that he was still trading in Dar es Salaam in 1908.

According to the community's oral records, Karimbhai was the Mukhi(chief) of the Dar es Salaam Khoja Ismaili Jamaat.
