Merali Jiwa had arrived in Zanzibar and his first job was as a rickshaw driver.
Apparently, he moved to Tanga before 1908 as his children were born in Tanga.
According to the community oral records, Meralibhai Jiwa was Kamadia (Deputy) of the Tanga Khoja Ismaili Jamat 1927-1928.
