A tribute to our beloved mother and father. We are what we are today because of your profound love and inspiration. You will forever remain in our hearts and thoughts.

I want to start out by saying how deeply fortunate and proud I feel to have the honour of being from the Jaffer clan. As we, for the first time re-unite and unveil our background, listen to some of the words, look at some of the pictures of our elders, most of all who have passed on, we see in each of them a colossal amount of affection, humility and above all profound dignity. They were all also, each in their own way, pioneers, having been through many challenges and turmoils, which most of us today could not imagine surviving.

The Jaffers have also exhibited a great sense of leadership, courage and confidence. As we celebrate their lives and ours, today, we must be extremely grateful to each of them, our parents, grand-parents, uncles, aunts, cousins or, however we are related; that we are all lucious branches that stem from the same incredible tree. Let us be thankful for the greatest gift of the love and the legacy of this beautiful tree, which Inshallah will remain evergreen, provided that we all undertake to nourish its roots. Let's take it upon each of us to keep in touch. Let us not forget our roots!
