Salaam Alaykum.
First, I must commend you for the excellent work you've done on the HOODA family
I enjoy reading the interesting facts about our family history I though sometimes it does get confusing as I haven't had any contact with the older generation so it's all new to me. I also have a message from papa to "Mr Hooda" He has sent you lots of salaams & we sat together to write down what you two had discussed about my grandfather, Nazerali Karim - I thought I'd pass it on to you.
Born in India in 1900, he migrated to Arusha, Tanzania to started a business of garments in small villages nearby. He had 1 brother Husein Karim & 1 sister Sherbanu (she was left behind in India)
He married Mrs Fatmabai, born in Lamu, Kenya. After a while he moved to Bukoba where he opened a shop with an ithna asheri partner. Fatmabai became very ill & leaving behind her 6 month old daughter, Fizza. Fatmabai died.
Nazerali Karim with his 4 daughters & 1 son moved to Moshi, through his brother, Husein Karim's invitation. Nazerali Karim opened a shop in a village near Moshi known as Himo. The shop was owned by Shariff Jiwa (Moshi Trading Company). He was the agent for supplying produce of Kilimanjaro region & kept wholesale sundries, petroleum products, cigarettes etc.
In 1957 his health deteriorated & in Nov 1957 he died of a heart attack & High blood Pressure leaving behind his second wife Zainab whom he had married when he moved to Moshi & 5 chlidren.
After his death the kids were all seperated. This is the info he has about his parents as papa was l and a half when his mother died & 15 years old when his father died.
With Duas and Salaam
Sajeda Khaki (daughter of Hassanali Nazerali Karim)
