According to the community oral records, Shariff Karsan was Kamadia (Deputy) of the Tanga Khoja Ismaili Jamat 1938-1939 and Mukhi(Chief) in 1942-1943.

Shariff Karsan was a member of the then HH Agakhan Provincial Council of Tanga, having previously also served as the Kamadiasaheb and then Mukhisaheb of the Tanga Jamatkhana (and met, through this connection, my mother Roshan: and got married on 3rd January 1943)
