My parents are people who have lived in and travelled to several different countries in their lives. I’ve carried on the tradition by doing the same. I was born in Vancouver, Canada and have returned to it time and again. Living in a city that I love coming back to has made me feel at home in the world. That’s something my cozy, quiet-loving nature really appreciates. I love being home, cooking most of my meals, and exploring my city. But, I never forget my travels and adventures. I reflect back on them and extend the joy by writing and sharing my photographs online through my blogs, social media, and freelance articles.
I grew up eating a unique combination of South Asian food from India and East African inspired food from where my family is from in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Many of the traditional foods my mom used to cook for me (and still does) were always vegan or can easily be modified to be so. Over the past few years, I’ve been trying to preserve and celebrate my heritage by learning to cook South Asian and East African food.
