Gulzar was one of the first Ismaili ladies in work in a retail store in Porbandar and she is proud that her lead was followed by many women. She worked a book store that she and her husband operated on the main street in Porbandar.
She also taught as a nursery teacher for 8 years and was a principal for 60 Grade 3 students in 2006
Gulzar gives tutions from home now and also does a lot of volunteer work.
