My dad Jafferali was from Dar, my mom Fatmabai Bhanji Jiwa was from Tanga known there as "Fatu Fui"
I was born, educated and worked in Dar
After my dad's business ran into trouble, we moved in August 1967 to Tanga where my mom and dad's family were
My dad worked at Hasham Suleman's, then at Sikh Saw Mills
After completing a secretarial course in Nairobi I worked at Tanga Customs
My dad passed away in Tanga in February 1971
Things didn't look too good at work and my mom wanted me to quit, so I made a deal with her that I would only quit if she let me go to Canada
I moved to Canada in 1972, my mom joining me in 1975
My mom passed away in Toronto, in 2005
