Our mother Jenabai was born in Zanzibar in 1905. She was a very gentle, kind and religious person. Our friends still refer to her as an angel and this, we all wholeheartedly second. Our mother recited Dua at the age of five at Zanzibar Jamatkhana and my grandmother, on that memorable day, served the whole jamat with ice-cream.
She was very artistic and talented and used to sew clothes and we still have many ladies who remind us that our mother made dresses for them and their children. She used to make clothes, pants and bras free of charge for all the widows who lived in the Dharamshara. In fact, she never gave up sewing and was sewing something for Malek the day before she died.
On Chandraat, we always asked her, "what did you ask for from Mawla" and her reply was as always, "Imanji Salamati".
A couple of her sayings we remember are - "Na bolvama nav goon" and the other "Naga saame nago na thinu".
We consider ourselves very richly blessed to have had such good souls as our parents.
