Malekbanoo was born and received her education in Karachi.
Her father was himself a a graduate of the St Pauls, where he did his senior Cambridge Certificate and so had encouraged his children to pursue education.
Malekbanoo went and completed a Primary Training Certificate (teaching) and taught at the Government School in Karachi for the next 35 years.
