Born in Lakhpat, Kutch

Due to the earth quake of 1818,Remu Mawji, a Bhuj merchant was forced to flee from Kutch to towards Sindh and ultimately ended in Gwadar.

He became a trader of cotton, wool, fish, rice and ghee and also dealt the business of shark fins and fish maws with the Chinese merchants from Hong Kong.

By 1886, he had moved to Karachi as he is mentioned in the following case:
